Abstract
The survey was held in Mardin and in its districts and villages. A group of 636 women and men was interviewed. Half of the people interviewed, were of the opinion that nobody should be killed. One-third of the people were thinking that nobody should be exposed to physical violence. The men and the women had different opinions about killing people and being exposed to physical violence. The thoughts also differed between the villagers and the people living in urban areas. The socioeconomical situation and the level of education changed the attitude towards violence as well. Sect, intermarriage, being a member of a tribe, income level, religious beliefs were among other aspects.
