Abstract
Ancient city of Herakleia Perinthos is situated within the Marmara Ereglisi district of the province of Tekirdag. Excavations under the supervision of TekirdagMuseum in Marmara Ereglisi yielded a cemetery area datable to 9th to up to the end of 13th century A.D. which has been used for about five hundred years. A form of craniosynostosis (premature fusion or absence of cranial sutures) is recorded for one child of 3-4 years old. This condition is called as scaphocephaly which is the result of fusion of sagittal sutures. Craniosynostoses which are rarely recorded in the archaeological record are described and possible related anomalies are dicussed.
