An Evaluation on Non Participation of the Youth in Leisure Time Activities

The present research was planned in order to detect the reasons why the students of Adnan Menderes University did not participate in leisure time activities. The sample of the research was composed of 328 students (169 female university students and 159 male university students) who studied at the School of Physical Education and Sports, Health School, Department of Art and Music of Education Faculty and Nazilli Vocational School. “Leisure Constraint Scale” developed by Gürbüz and Karaküçük (2008) that assesses the components preventing the university students from participating in recreational activities was sued. As statistical analysis, One Way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), t test and Tukey test were performed. As the results of the research, there was significant difference between sex and the subscales of the university students (p 0.05) and it was found out that level of welfare was an important factor in participating in activities.
