Media Sosial: Tinjauan Terhadap Laman Jaringan Sosial Dalam Talian Tempatan

Social networking sites have shown an increasing number of usages among Malaysians. The most popular sites are Facebook, Twitter, MySpace,Friendster, and Tagged. The popularity of these forms of social media led to the efforts to provide sites that are compatible to local contents and local users. The results give an indication of the emerging Malaysian social networking sites, such as Ruumz, Arakians, youKawan, and others. This article discusses several selected local social networking sites and how it compares with the worldwide sites. Through participation observation,local social sites among Malaysians is still limited in their use and not well established. Some of the local social networking sites offer additional features or applications that suit with local environments and local content while maintaining the main features than are offered by the global popular sites. With these unique features, the local social network developers are hoping to increase their competitive advantage
