Abstract
In this study; the information about the state of art of food standards, food safety issues, the structure of food legislations and food safety management systems in Turkey and European Union are given. Firstly, in the context of food safety management systems a general information on Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), Good Agricultural Practice (GAP), Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), Good Hygienic Practice (GHP), Good Laboratory Practice (GLP), Good Distribution Practice (GDP), Good Trade Practice (GTP), Good Veterinary Practise (GVP) are given. In this study, detailed information on food legislation in force in Turkey and European Union (EU) are given since food standards are set according to food legislations. In addition to those, the information on animal health, phytosanitary and food safety issues, white and green paper basis of food safety in EU and food standardization in EU and Turkey are given.
