Abstract
The objective of this study was to find out available boron status of the soils of Konya basin and to select the most suitable chemical extraction method or methods for determining the plant available boron in the soils. For that purpose, a control greenhouse experiment was conducted and sunflower was grown as a test plant. Besides, correlations were accomplished with 6 different biological index values. On the other hand, available boron status of the twenty soil samples were determined by different chemical extraction methods and results obtained by this way were compared with biological index values statistically. Result of this study, according to the significances of the correlation coefficients between the methods and biological index values the efficiency of 16 boron extractants in the assessment of available soil boron was arranged follow; hot 0.01 M CaCl2 0.01 M tartaric acid 0.05 M mannitol pH = 7.5 0.05 M mannitol + 0.01 M CaCl2 2 mM DTPA. Among this extraction methods were defined significance and high correlation floor. Thereby, the one of the 5 extraction methods could be proposed as the best method to determine the plant available boron content of the soils.
