Prevention of Pressure Ulcers in Patients Undergoing Surgery

Pressure ulcers, common in post-operative patients, is an important health problem affecting quality of life adversely, causing pain and leading serious financial losses. All health care professionals, especially nurses, working at the operating room should know risk factors leading development of pressure ulcers in patients who underwent surgery and apply necessary prevention interventions. In this article, the risk factors triggering the development of pressure ulcers and prevention-oriented interventions in patients who underwent surgery have been reviewed.
