Abstract
Abstract. A two-dimensional turbulence k-å model is used to predictthe distribution of air velocity, temperature and turbulence kineticenergy in a ventilated room using different positions of inlet and outletapertures. The Navier Stockes, energy and turbulence equations aresolved using finite volume techniques with staggered grid. Thecharacteristics of air flow are analyzed under different parameters suchas inlet and outlet positions, aspect ratio and air supply velocities. Thisstudy is focused on the prediction of turbulent recirculating flows inlarge indoor spaces. The results show that the wall jet region andrecirculation regions are affected by the position of inlet and outletapertures. Also the results indicate that recirculation regions areincreased with increasing Reynolds number and decrease withdecreasing aspect ratio.
