Cultural Understanding of Conservative Approaches in Turkey: Wiews ofConservative Intellectuals About Culture, Popular Culture and Mass Culture

Nationalist and conservative approaches, which are the hegemonic tendencies in Turkey,about the problematic of popular culture and mass culture have not been disscused,although this problematic has been generally discussed within the framework of the Marxistoriginated approaches in Turkey, In this article we analyzed the books of Prof. Dr. Nabl Avc1and the Prof. Dr. M. Naci Bostanc1 who are also known as conservative intellectuals andpolitical actors in 2000 s Turkey which are the related to the topic. These books areanalyzed from the points of, a) their culture, popular culture and mass culture definitionsand their theoretical references about these problematics, b) their approaches about thepolitical role of the popular culture and mass culture, c) their utopias, projects andstrategies about cultural and cultural identity problems in Turkey.
