Abstract
When European Union was first established in 1957 by six Western European Countries; it was agreed to leave the management of iron-steel sector to a supranational authority. Iron-steel sectors were preferred because of being fundamentals of military and industrial sectors. After the arrangements had been made in the energy sector, the steps of being a union was followed.This study includes the role of energy in the establishment process ofEU. It also investigates the natural gas policy of the union and the position of Turkey as part ofEU s current and future natural gas policy.
