Abstract
The Prophet (p.b.u.h.) was caring the settlement of Madinah ordered and well balanced. He did not want population was concentrated in a specific region, while the other areas were empty. He planned a mosque-centered city, and did not approve to open up free areas for settlement. This attitude can be seen the beginning of an Islamic city planning, and an example for the modern environmental approaches increasingly growing at the present day. The environmental planning of Madinah by Muhammad (p.b.u.h.) does not consist of these. He also conducted many other arrangements, such as protection of water resources, conservation of agricultural areas, plantation of some regions, architectural and environmental planning for housing, widening the roads, and establishing market places.
