Abstract
Innovation, which is expressed as a sine qua non of growth, has recently been found to have more than 50% of the contribution to the growth of developed economies in particular. In addition to its contribution to economic growth, the spatial effects of innovation, which has turned into a policy instrument in regional economic development, have recently begun to draw attention. The aim of this study is to reveal the sectors in which the locomotive regions of innovation in Turkey, such as Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir, specialize in the manufacturing industry. The patent applications of the three sub-sectors of the manufacturing industry subsectors have been analyzed by the innovative specialization index According to the analysis results, it is determined that there is a relation between innovative specialization and sectoral specialization in the manufacturing industry sub-sectors in three regions.
