Abstract
This study aims to make a new methodological approach to the interpretations and inferences about the paleo-environmental conditions by using the existing fossil polen records in the Cappadocia Region and give a holistic perspective. Selected paleo-environmental proxies in this context are fossil pollen. These records include the records of the last 2000 years of ages and common species with other records. The aging data for these records are divided into periods, and pollen fractions of selected plant taxa are recalculated for these periods. The method used for the purpose is isopollen map production technique. Geographical Information Systems software and analysis are used for this method. Possible distribution areas of taxa were evaluated by spatial interpolation performed with the Inverse Distance Weighting method. The changes of temporal and spatial context in the paleovementation conditions of the species were investigated with the isopollen map created by this method. As a result, method experiment was carried out which could contribute to the evaluation and interpretation of fossil pollen records.
