In terms of land use change in agricultural areas in Turkey

Agriculture is a field that gives employment opportunities to a significant portion of population, it produces staple food for human nutrition, provides input to the industrial sector, creates demand for industrial products, contributes to exports through tradable products, and creates a significant part of national income. Therefore, it is very important to understanding of the misuses of the areas and changes in there where this activity is carried out. Considering that the agricultural areas are based on the expansion boundary, the protection of the existing areas has become a necessity. While positive or negative changes in these areas reflect various environmental and social factors, it also provides clues about the effects of various policies and economic features in the country. Therefore, the determination of changes in agricultural areas and the direction of this change will be effective in people s decision-making and taking measures. In this study I aim to reveal the recent changes in the field of agriculture in Turkey. I considered to CORINE Land Cover Change 2006-2012 as a main data and I also used the data which is collecting by Turkish Statistical Institute. As a result, I found that agricultural areas are decreasing and these areas are turning into artificial areas in Turkey.
