Abstract
Aurélia ou le rêve et la vie (1855) by Gérard de Nerval is under the banner of an intelligent mechanism. This is embodied both in the unmotivated approach of the visions and the passive behavior of the narrator. This double gratuitousness, the formatting of which takes on a good part of the linguistic resources of Aurélia's writing, is modified during the story to reflect the different nuances of Nerval's idea of a “second life”. We are therefore interested, in this study, in the points of the text where the principle of acausality constitutes an interpretation bias for the dream.
