  • Abstract
The concept of liquid biopsy for solid tumors aims at simple, fast, and accurate monitoring of tumor status or response to treatment. This technique offers several advantages over the conventional tissue biopsy because body fluids like saliva, urine, or blood are much easier to access. The diagnostic role of liquid biopsy has expanded in recent years for several types of malignancy, particularly in lung, breast, and colorectal cancer. In thyroid cancer, its role in either diagnosis or prognosis is starting to translate from the lab to the clinical sitting. In this review, we describe the diagnostic role of liquid biopsies in thyroid cancer patients, together with a new prospective of thyroid cancer non-invasive diagnostic tools.
