Abstract
Two removal methods of small halogenated organic substances in water are proposed by formation of ternary complexes between the halides, thiacalix[4]arenetetrasulfonate (TCAS), and anion exchange resins, among which treatment of the polluted water with TCAS to form TCAS-guest complexes followed by trapping them onto the resin enables almost complete (more than 99.99%) removal of halogenated organic compounds such as CH2C12 and CHCl3.
