SYSTEMATIC DEVELOPMENT OF UNSYMMETRICAL TRIPLETS

This report is a follow-up of the earlier communications on Synthesis of Optical systems-structrural development(1, 2), describing the process of developing unsymmetrical triplets for any specific instrumental application. This provides an alternative to the procedure proposed by Hopkins (3). The proposed method ensures an optimal power sum, and is also amenable to a search for aberration residuals to define a practically suitable start system for final optimization.
