Total apparent power of the electrical system for periodic, deformed waveforms

New notions in the theory of power are introduced for periodic current and voltage waveforms. The definition of apparent power- is changed. Total apparent power S, fictitious power Q, and power factor cos cp are defined for distorted current and voltage waveforms. The main advantage of such a proposition of power theory is the elimination of distortion power and scattered power. Example calculations were carried out for a series RL system supplied by a rectangular voltage. Conditions Tor the optimal compensation of reactive power of a RLC series system by a parallel RLC system were detcrmincd with a proposed powcr tlicory application.
