Abstract
A numerical method for predicting the likelihood that moisture may condense on the glazed fenestration of a large air-conditioned viewing gallery is presented. The study is conducted by using a three-dimensional k-ε turbulence model and tropical weather data. The relationships between the occurrence of condensation, ambient air conditions and the time of day are obtained and analysed. The number of hours of moisture condensation on the glass panel that can be expected in a year is estimated. It is found that a 1 °C increase in the temperature of the cool supply air into the air-conditioned space can significantly reduce the occurrence of condensation.
