The analysis of symbolic performance in mass housing settlements

The symbolic performance is a component of building performance which is defined by symbolic meaning of the user. The symbolic meaning occurs in the userʹs mind depending on physical quality of the built environment. This study considered the evaluation of symbolic meaning in the extension of symbolic performance which has not got explicit and definite criteria in design and evaluation process. There is a method developed for evaluating mass housing settlements in which a lot of people who have different characteristics live. The symbolic performance evaluation facilitating this method is also realized in the study.
