Batch biomethanation of banana trash and coir pith

Anaerobic digestion of banana trash and coir pith was carried out for a period of one month by batch digestion. During biomethanation, reduction of total- and volatile-solids was, respectively, 25.3 and 39.6% in banana trash and 13.6 and 21.6% in coir pith. A production of 9.22 l and 1.69 l (per kg TS added) of biogas with average methane content of 72 and 80% was achieved from banana trash and coir pith, respectively.
