Overview of the geothermal potential of Vietnam

Vietnam lies on the contact between the East Sea basin and the continental ridge of Indochina. More than 300 hot mineral manifestations with temperatures varying from 30 ° to 105°C have been identified. Water resources have also been tapped by about 100 wells, with temperatures varying between 30 ° and 148°C. Six prospect areas have already been identified: the Northwest, Northeast, Bacbo plain, North Trungbo, South Trungbo and Nambo, all of which occur in regions of recent tectonic activity. © 1998 CNR.
