Spinning Reserve from Hotel Load Response

Even though preliminary tests were not conducted during times of highest system or hotel loading during the summer, they showed that hotel load can be curtailed by 22 to 37 percent depending on the outdoor temperature and time of day. Full response occurred in 12 to 60 seconds from when the system operatorʹs command to shed load was issued and the load drop was very rapid.
