  • Abstract
    In continuation of past research on the academic self-concept, this article attempts to provide evidence of the existence of an academic self-schema. The results obtained using Markusʹ (1977) paradigm with 13- and 14-year-old students showed that both an academic-success schema and an academic-failure schema indeed appear to exist. Nevertheless, the latter was only observed for the variable self-description time. It is therefore encouraging to observe that a general positive self-concept prevailed over a failure self-schema.
