Abstract
I use a linear programming formulation of Samuelson’s paradox [Journal of Economic Literature 12 (1974) 1255–1289], where cream and coffee are substitutes, to illustrate how cross price effects between goods can depend on the household’s production technology rather than, or in addition to, its subjective preferences.
