Spatial mismatch in the labor market and racial differences in neighborhood crime

Results from estimating fixed effects models of neighborhood crime show that an important cause of higher crime in black neighborhoods is the poor job accessibility of black youth. A key result is that access explains 21% of the difference in property crime between black and white neighborhoods.
