The role of the urban/non-urban cost-of-living difference in measured intergenerational earnings mobility

In light of a substantial compensating urban/non-urban wage gap, a documented strong intergenerational persistence of urbanicity could produce a higher intergenerational association in nominal than in real earnings. Controlling interarea cost-of-living differences, I find that the estimated elasticity for real earnings is less to a statistically significant degree.
