Magnetoelastic interaction between a soft ferromagnetic elastic half-plane with a crack and a constant magnetic field

The stress state of a magnetoelastic half-plane with a crack is considered. It is assumed that the half-plane is located in a magnetic ®eld, which is parallel to the boundary of the half-plane. Four various boundary conditions for the half-plane are considered. A numerical method is developed to determine the crack-opening displacements and the magnetoelastic stress intensity factor. The e€ect of the magnetic ®eld and the boundary conditions on the magnetoelastic stress intensity factor are shown graphically and numerically. The case of an edge crack is considered as a particular case.
