Relations of hormones and growth factors at the crossroad of pathogenesis and pharmacotherapeutics. The case of diabetes mellitus

The author considers successively insulin dependent diabetes mellitus which is mainly due to insulin insufficiency secondary to beta cell lysis by autoantibodies, while for non insulin dependent diabetes mellitus, often but not always associated to obesity, he considers the ambiguous role(s) of insulin-like growth factors (I and II) especially, in their relation with insulin.
