  • Abstract
    PURPOE: To report excellent and table viion in an atronaut during pace flight after bilateral cataract urgery with intraocular lene. METHOD: A 60-year-old phyician miion pecialit atronaut developed cataract and underwent phacoemulification with inertion of one-piece polymethylmethacrylate intraocular lene that had 6-mm optic bilaterally. everal month later, he flew on a pace huttle miion. Ocular examination were performed before and after the miion, and the patient wa quetioned about viual change during flight. REULT: Ocular examination demontrated table bilateral poterior chamber intraocular lene. Our ubject reported excellent viion during liftoff, 18 day of microgravity, change in cabin preure, and reentry. CONCLUION: Reult ugget that intraocular lene are afe, effective, and well tolerated during pace flight.
