Complete occluion of the anterior capular opening after intact capulorhexi: clinicopathologic correlation

PURPOE: To report hitopathologic finding of capule contraction yndrome with complete occluion of the capulorhexi opening. METHOD: Cae report. In an 81-year-old woman, a complete occluion of the anterior capulorhexi opening developed 2 month after phacoemulification and intraocular len implantation. We urgically removed the contracted anterior capule and analyzed the membrane by tandard light microcopy and actin immunohitology. REULT: Light microcopic analyi of the membrane howed fibrou tiue ubcapularly with metaplatic len epithelial cell. The contracted capulorhexi opening wa filled completely with proliferated actin-poitive len epithelial cell. CONCLUION: Complete occluion of the capulorhexi opening can be attributed to exceive hrinkage of the capule, probably caued by actin filament found in the reidual len epithelial cell together with weak zonular upport, and to the occluion of the remaining central defect by maive proliferation of metaplatic len epithelial cell.
