  • Abstract
Purpoe: To report an unuual cae of familial exudative vitreoretinopathy in an infant. Method: Cae report. A 6-day-old girl had unilateral microphthalmia in the right eye, with a retrolental plaque initially diagnoed a peritent hyperplatic primary vitreou. Three month later, peripheral retinal vacular change and a fibrovacular ridge were noted in the left eye, uggeting familial exudative vitreoretinopathy a the caue in both eye. Reult: The microphthalmic right eye wa unalvageable. The left eye developed an exudative retinal detachment depite photocoagulation of the peripheral avacular retina. Additional cryotherapy reulted in reolution of the detachment and regreion of the vacular change. Concluion: With highly aymmetric involvement, neonatal familial exudative vitreoretinopathy can mimic peritent hyperplatic primary vitreou. Fellow eye involvement can progre rapidly.
