Abstract
Purpoe: To decribe the plama level of plaminogen activator inhibitor 1, the major antifibrinolytic agent, in eye with central erou chorioretinopathy, in which choroidal thromboi i upected a the underlying condition baed on the finding of choroidal hyperpermeability in indocyanine green angiogram.
Method: Plaminogen activator inhibitor 1 concentration in the plama of 17 patient with central erou chorioretinopathy were meaured by enzyme-linked immunoorbent aay and compared with thoe in 12 age-matched normal volunteer.
Reult: The plama level of plaminogen activator inhibitor 1 in patient with central erou chorioretinopathy (range, 25 to 439 ng/ml; median, 87 ng/ml) were ignificantly increaed compared with thoe in normal volunteer (range, 7 to 84 ng/ml; median, 36 ng/ml) (P = .0013, Mann-Whitney U tet).
Concluion: Increaed plaminogen activator inhibitor 1 concentration in patient with central erou chorioretinopathy upport the hypothei that the choroidal hyperpermeability dicloed by indocyanine green angiography i caued from impaired fibrinolyi and the reulting thrombotic occluion in the choroidal vein.
