Analyi of vitrectomy for idiopathic macular hole by optical coherence tomography

PURPOE: To evaluate foveal tructure after vitrectomy for idiopathic macular hole in relation to potoperative viual outcome. METHOD: Optical coherence tomography wa performed potoperatively to ae retinal thickne at the foveal center in patient who underwent vitrectomy, poterior hyaloid membrane removal, and perfluoropropane ga tamponade for idiopathic macular hole. Thirty-even eye of 36 patient documented to have achieved anatomic hole cloure by optical coherence tomography were included in the tudy. REULT: Increaed viual acuity ignificantly correlated with greater foveal thickne aeed at a median of 5 month potoperatively (pearman analyi; R = .453, P = .005). CONCLUION: Viual outcome after anatomic cloure of macular hole by vitrectomy i cloely related to the tructure of the center of the fovea potoperatively.
