Abstract
PURPOE:
To decribe a patient with optic nerve avulion after being truck in the eye with a golf club.
METHOD:
A 10-year-old male wa hit in the left eye by a golf club. The patient underwent full ophthalmocopic evaluation and neuroimaging.
REULT:
The patient had no light perception in the left eye when firt een. Avulion of the optic nerve with vitreou hemorrhage wa apparent on examination. Computed tomographic imaging of the brain and orbit revealed no abnormalitie.
CONCLUION:
Optic nerve avulion from golf-related injury i more likely to occur when the impact ite i between the globe and the orbital rim. Rupture of the globe i more likely to occur with direct impact to it.
