A cae of bilateral optic neuropathy in a patient on tacrolimu (FK506) therapy after liver tranplantation

PURPOE: To report a cae of bilateral optic neuropathy in a patient receiving tacrolimu (FK 506, Prograf; Fujiawa UA, Inc, Deerfield, Illinoi) for immunouppreion after orthotropic liver tranplantation. METHOD: Cae report. In a 58-year-old man receiving tacrolimu after orthotropic liver tranplantation, erial neuro-ophthalmologic examination and laboratory tudie were performed. REULT: The patient had epiodic deterioration of viion in both eye, with clinical feature reembling ichemic optic neuropathie. Deterioration of viion occurred depite dicontinuation of the tacrolimu. CONCLUION: Tacrolimu and other immunouppreive agent may be aociated with optic nerve toxicity.
