Congenital orbital varice cauing extreme neonatal proptoi

PURPOE: To report a 6-week-old male with extreme proptoi caued by thromboed orbital varice. METHOD: A 6-week-old male preented with advanced proptoi of hi left eye. Computed tomography and magnetic reonance imaging tudie of the orbit revealed a heterogeneou cytic ma that filled the entire left orbit. Extreme proptoi and corneal expoure prompted urgent urgical exciion of the ma. Hitopathologic review of the leion wa conitent with orbital varice. CONCLUION: Although orbital varice uually are found in adult, they hould be conidered in the differential diagnoi of orbital leion in children. Obervation i uually warranted, but urgical intervention may be neceary in advanced cae.
