Apergillu flavu keratiti after laer in itu keratomileui

PURPOE: To report a cae of fungal keratiti caued by Apergillu flavu after laer in itu keratomileui urgery. METHOD: Cae report. A 24-year-old woman developed pain, redne, decreaed viion, and an infiltrate poterior to the corneal flap in her right eye 3 day after laer in itu keratomileui. On referral, approximately 3 week after laer in itu keratomileui, examination of the right eye revealed light perception viion, a large full-thickne corneal infiltrate, and hypopyon. Corneal craping were taken for direct microcopic examination and culture. REULT: Corneal craping revealed the preence of fungal filament in mear and in culture. The fungu wa identified a A. flavu. Intenive topical natamycin and ytemic ketoconazole therapy wa initiated. Depite intenive medical treatment, the infiltrate progreed and the patient wa ubjected to a therapeutic penetrating keratoplaty. There wa no recurrence of infection after urgery. At lat follow-up 4 month after urgery, the eye wa quiet with graft edema. CONCLUION: Fungal keratiti i a rare complication of laer in itu keratomileui urgery. In a cae that doe not repond to medical treatment, early urgical intervention mut be conidered.
