  • Abstract
PURPOE: To report the influence of rapid glycemic control on len opacity in patient with diabete mellitu. METHOD: In a propective tudy, nine patient with adult onet diabete mellitu and glycoylated hemoglobin value over 9% were divided into two group, rapid glycemic control and low glycemic control group, baed on the time coure of glycoylated hemoglobin value after the initiation of glycemic control. The len thickne and opacity were meaured uing the anterior eye egment analyi ytem. REULT: One week after onet of treatment, the len in rapid glycemic control group became ignificantly thicker than in pretreatment, but returned to the baeline level at the ubequent meaurement point. The len opacity index in the rapid glycemic control group increaed ignificantly (P < .01, paired t tet) 4 month after the glycemic control, which perited throughout the 1-year tudy period. The len thickne and opacity in the low glycemic control group did not change ignificantly. CONCLUION: It wa uggeted that rapid glycemic control can induce an irreverible increae in len opacification.
