Experimental laer-aited in itu keratomileui induce the reactivation of latent herpe implex viru

PURPOE: We determined whether laer-aited in itu keratomileui act a a trigger for the reactivation and ocular hedding of herpe implex viru type-1 in a rabbit latency model. METHOD: Herpe implex viru type-1 latently infected rabbit were divided into three treatment group: Group I received urface excimer laer ablation in both eye (poitive control), Group II received laer-aited in itu keratomileui in both eye, and Group III received no treatment (negative control). Eye were cultured daily for 10 day to determine herpe implex viru type-1 reactivation. REULT: The number of herpe implex viru type-1 poitive eye culture and total herpe implex viru type-1 hedding day were ignificantly greater after urface excimer laer ablation and laer-aited in itu keratomileui compared with the untreated control group (P < 0.002 and P < 0.000001, repectively). CONCLUION: Laer-aited in itu keratomileui a well a urface excimer laer ablation act a a trigger for the reactivation of herpe implex viru type-1 in the rabbit latency model
