Microkeratome-induced reduction of atigmatim after penetrating keratoplaty

PURPOE: To report the reduction in potpenetrating keratoplaty atigmatim with the ue of the microkeratome to create a lamellar corneal flap a the firt tage in a two-tep laer in itu keratomileui. METHOD: The hanatome microkeratome wa ued to create a lamellar corneal flap in a 24-year-old man with a net corneal atigmatim of 7.3 diopter, 2 year after penetrating keratoplaty. No laer ablation wa performed. REULT: The net corneal atigmatim reduced to 3.9 diopter at 1 month and 2.3 diopter at 3 month of follow-up, without any laer ablation. CONCLUION: Laer in itu keratomileui may be performed a a two-tage procedure, becaue the lamellar corneal flap alone may reduce potpenetrating keratoplaty atigmatim
