Abstract
PURPOE: To identify a rapid and reliable method to detect the Glutamine 368 TOP (Q368TOP) dieae–predipoing allele of the myocilin gene aociated with adult onet, primary, open-angle glaucoma.
METHOD: Individual with the Q368TOP mutation of the myocilin gene were identified from a cohort of primary open-angle glaucoma patient from Tamania and ubjected to Taa1 retriction digetion.
REULT: In the Tamanian family preented, creening with the Taa1 retriction enzyme uccefully confirmed identification of all individual with the Q368TOP mutation.
CONCLUION: The ue of the Taa1 retriction enzyme offer a relatively imple, rapid, and reproducible technique that could be applied to detect the Q368TOP mutation of the myocilin gene.
