Abstract
PURPOE: To ae the effect of vitreou opacitie on retinal nerve fiber layer retardation meaurement obtained during canning laer polarimetry.
METHOD: canning laer polarimetry wa performed in two eye of two patient with vitreou opacitie.
REULT: The preence of a vitreou opacity within the meaurement ellipe during canning caued a marked, localized increae in polarization in the area of the opacity. Thi falely increaed the value obtained for the mean retinal nerve fiber layer thickne. Retinal nerve fiber layer thickne value were reduced when the opacity wa not incorporated into the meaurement ellipe.
CONCLUION: Artifact introduced by the preence of vitreou opacitie can affect canning laer polarimetry meaurement reliability
