Abstract
PURPOE: We decribe a cae of bilateral angle-cloure glaucoma aociated with oral topiramate therapy.
METHOD: Interventional cae report. Cae report with echographic illutration.
REULT: A 51-year-old man developed bilateral acute angle-cloure glaucoma 2 week after beginning topiramate therapy for bipolar affective diorder. Laer peripheral iridotomy wa performed in the right eye without reolution of the acute attack. Echography revealed len thickening and ciliochoroidal detachment in both eye. Viual acuity, intraocular preure, and anterior and poterior egment anatomy normalized 2 week after ceation of topiramate therapy.
CONCLUION: Topiramate, a new ulfa-derivative antiepileptic medication, may caue idioyncratic ciliochoroidal detachment and ciliary body edema leading to anterior diplacement of the len-iri diaphragm, len thickening, and acute angle-cloure glaucoma.
