Abstract
PURPOE: To evaluate qualitatively the tructural characteritic and the aociated feature that antedate the occurrence of a dik hemorrhage in patient with glaucoma.
METHOD: Retropective obervational cae erie. A total of 4018 pair of tereocopic optic dik image obtained over 15 year were reviewed. All eye with optic dik image before the occurrence of a dik hemorrhage were enrolled. The dik image were evaluated in a maked fahion with repect to the general neural rim and peripapillary appearance.
REULT: The optic dik characteritic and aociated feature that mot antedate the dik hemorrhage in 33 eye of 26 patient that had previou optic dik image for evaluation are focal neural rim notch (36%), thin loping rim (42%), peripapillary atrophy (79%), and uperior-inferior rim aymmetry (73%). In eye with preexiting focal rim notche, all ubequent dik hemorrhage were identified at or adjacent to the notche.
CONCLUION: Focal rim notching may precede the occurrence of a dik hemorrhage.
