Vitreoretinal urgery for a ubretinal hydatid cyt

PURPOE: To report the vitreoretinal urgery for management of a ubretinal hydatid cyt. METHOD: Conventional par plana vitrectomy wa performed for the removal of a ubretinal hydatid cyt and treatment of retinal detachment in the right eye (RE) of a 34-year-old woman. The cyt content wa apirated by a flute needle after retinotomy and cytotomy. The cyt wall wa eparated from overlying retina and removed. The retina wa attached by liquid perfluorocarbon and ilicone oil. Potoperatively, the patient wa followed for 15 month. REULT: After vitreoretinal urgery, the retina RE wa attached and recurrence of hydatid dieae wa not een in vitreou cavity or ubretinal pace during the follow-up period. Viual acuity increaed from counting finger to 20/63 at the end of the follow-up time. CONCLUION: A ubretinal hydatid cyt that caue retinal detachment may be treated effectively with vitreoretinal urgery.
