  • Abstract
PURPOE: To evaluate the morphometric characteritic of the optic dik in eye with and without dik hemorrhage in normal-tenion glaucoma. METHOD: Thi wa a propective tudy conducted at Gifu Univerity Hopital of 50 eye of 50 patient with normal-tenion glaucoma (12 men, 38 women; age, 56.5 ± 14.1 year) who had developed new dik hemorrhage at the time of enrollment and 58 eye of 58 patient with normal-tenion glaucoma (20 men, 38 women; age, 56.7 ± 12.4 year) with no hitory of dik hemorrhage during the follow-up period of more than 2 year. Age and global indexe of the viual field were matched. We morphometrically compared the optic dik with and without hemorrhage uing a canning laer tomograph. Global and ector analye were made of the optic dik tructural parameter. REULT: There wa no ignificant difference in the global value of the dik parameter between the dik hemorrhage and the nonhemorrhage group. However, the inferotemporal value for the rim area, rim volume, mean retinal nerve fiber layer thickne, and retinal nerve fiber layer cro-ection area in the dik hemorrhage group were ignificantly maller than thoe in the nonhemorrhage group (P < .05). In the dik hemorrhage group, moreover, the value for the rim area, rim volume, and retinal nerve fiber layer cro-ection area in the inferotemporal ector with hemorrhage were ignificantly maller than thoe in the ame ector without hemorrhage (P < .05). CONCLUION: Localized damage of the dik rim and retinal nerve fiber layer at the inferotemporal ector wa prominent in eye with dik hemorrhage
