  • Abstract
PURPOE: To determine the aociation between cytoid macular edema and vacular endothelial growth factor concentration in the aqueou humor and plama of uveiti patient. METHOD: Cro-ectional tudy. Vacular endothelial growth factor concentration were meaured by enzyme-linked immunoorbent aay in the aqueou humor of 20 uveiti patient (9 with and 11 without cytoid macular edema), and in the plama of 40 uveiti patient (20 with and 20 without cytoid macular edema) and 20 healthy volunteer. REULT: Mean aqueou humor vacular endothelial growth factor concentration for uveiti patient with and without cytoid macular edema were 152.3 and 109.5 pg/ml, repectively, P = .044. Mean plama vacular endothelial growth factor concentration in uveiti patient with and without cytoid macular edema and in healthy volunteer were 32.2, 29.6, and 55.0 pg/ml, repectively. Uveiti patient had lower plama vacular endothelial growth factor level than did healthy volunteer, P = .0002 CONCLUION: In uveiti patient, vacular endothelial growth factor concentration i increaed in the aqueou humor of eye with cytoid macular edema. It may be ueful to invetigate vacular endothelial growth factor antagonit a a treatment for uveiti-aociated cytoid macular edema
