A new high-peed pneumatic vitrectomy cutter

PURPOE: To decribe a new high-peed pneumatic vitrectomy intrument capable of 2000 cut/minute. DEIGN: Obervational report. METHOD: A high-peed guillotine vitrector, developed to perform vitrectomy, with the ability to adjut from 1 to 2000 cut/minute, wa ued in 80 conecutive vitreoretinal cae with a variety of diagnoe in a hopital etting. REULT: The performance wa almot vibration-free. The intrument performed efficiently up to 1500 cut/minute during vitrectomy, maintaining a contant flow rate. Higher cutting rate were ued uccefully for pecial indication. No complication were linked to the ue of the intrument. CONCLUION: The intrument wa ued uccefully in 80 conecutive vitrectomie for a variety of diagnoe, performing efficiently up to 1500 cut/minute, with a contant flow rate without complication. Higher cutting rate (2000 cut/minute) were ued uccefully for pecial indication.
